Parent support is aimed at assisting you as a parent with a baby in the NICU. Various kinds of support are available, including parenting groups, formal and informal small group discussions or lectures on specific topics, structured educational programmes such as Little Steps® Parenting Programme and feeding support in the form of lactation consultants while still admitted to the hospital. Where hospitals do not provide these services parents can link to online support groups, such as Facebook. After discharge more support is available in the form of child care assistance, early intervention services and more parenting groups.
